Antipasto Bread and The Ides of March

I made Antipasto Bread today to celebrate the Ides of March.

The Ides of March is the name of the date March 15 in the Roman calendar. The term ides was used for the 15th day of the months of March, May, July, and October. The Ides of March was a festive Day dedicated to the god Mars and a military parade was usually held. In modern times, the term Ides of March is best known as the date that Julius Caesar was assassinated in 44 BC. In William Shakespeare's play Julius Caesar, Caesar is warned to "beware the Ides of March." ~Wikipedia

Sweet Abby

Abby is a lover. She almost purrs when I whisper in her ear and pet her in long strokes from her head to her tail. She loves to be adored. She is a bit of a piglet and weighs all of about 10 pounds.  She is my baby.

Tapestry Crochet

This is my first try at Tapestry Crochet (see my post here). The pattern is from the book More Tapestry Crochet by Carol Ventura, page 150. It can either be a basket or a hat. I think mine will be a basket.

A Monochromatic Meal

This was not the most colorful, nor the most healthy meal, but it was made for me by loving hands and tasted so yummy! The chicken is one of our regulars from one of my favorite recipe sites, allrecipes.com, and it's called Anniversary Chicken.

Crunchy Roasted Chickpeas

I tried this great recipe today. I found it on the Escape from Obesity blog. I'm not a chickpea fan, but bought a few cans to try in a hummus recipe and ended up roasting them with a little sea salt - they were yummy (and healthy)!

Tunisian Crochet

This is probably my oldest UFO. At the time I began this afghan, these were the colors of my bedroom - that was some years ago. Something inside me wants to keep this and believe that I will finish it someday.

I am very intrigued by this type of crochet, called Tunisian or Afghan Stitch. You can read all about it here.

Okey Badokey

CARAMEL CORN PUFFS

2 sticks butter
2 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. Karo (light)
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 pkgs. corn puffs

Boil for 5 minutes: butter, brown sugar and Karo. Stir in vanilla and baking soda. (This will bubble up.) Pour over corn puffs and stir until well coated. Add nuts if you wish. Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour. Turn every 15 minutes.
